Yes and she told him so, at one point in the movie, when he saves her from drowning--only she wasn't really drowning. The fact that Briony, who's only 12 or 13, loves Robbie is the basis of the whole storyline, really. Her actions irrevocably change the course of several lives when she accuses Robbie of a crime he did not commit.The girl was jealous and didn't understand the budding relationship between her older sister, Cecilia, and Robbie. She atoned for her sins by the end of the movie.
