Why do Christians ignore the correlations their religion has with older religions?

Yes, and let's not forget the ancient Egyptian god Horus, which most of the Jesus myth was ripped off from. Why do they ignore the correlations? Simple. The whole entire pile of beliefs is a house of cards. Pull one out, find just one error in, say, the Bible, and logically the whole house falls down. Religion and logic are like oil and water.
