Is it true you could catch a cold for a aquatic turtles?

It's winter where I live and I had turtles for a year and always wash my hands and there enclosures after handling the and a week ago after I was out for a hour in 28 degree whether after a blizzard that hit 2 days before that day the next morning I woke up with a sore throat and blowing clear mucus phlegm from my nose and I'm sure it's the weather but my mother keeps accusing me of my turtles causing it when I never got sick from them.
