Should I get old high quality golf clubs or stick with my not as old generic golf clubs?

hello, i'm a golfer on a budget... I'm considering getting a 1995 set of Callaway golf clubs in good condition and am uming this would be an upgrade to my 2000 set of generic clubs... any advice on whether the quality of an older set of Callaways would be better than a newer set of generics? And is there any loss of quality in an older set of irons in good condition? thanks for your time.
